Number of Frost Days
The information above clearly shows that the number of days with temperatures below 0°C will decrease in the future. This decrease can already be observed nowadays based on actual measured values. While the average number of frost days during the 1961-1970 decade was 127/year, in the 2011-2020 period it was only 100 days. By the end of this century, models only predict 68 days in case of the medium emissions scenario (RCP4.5) and 32 days in case CO2 emissions are not limited in the future (RCP8.5). This number only represents one quarter of the average number in the 1961-1970 decade.
